the story behind the keychain

Every Kindness Chain you send is handmade with pewter and copper in the USA…and its symbolism is just as important as its beauty.

The Body

The body of the kindness chain is a solid pewter “box”, symbolizing how it’s so easy for all of us to get caught up in the “box” of our own lives; the day to day, the busyness. Often we think of doing for others, but don’t execute because we are stuck in our hectic boxes.

We chose pewter because we wanted these keychains to be more like pieces of jewelry… each hand assembled with great care. Pewter is a softer metal, which will get little dents and scratches, just like the imperfectness of humans.

The Space

The center of our “box” is hollowed out to signify us making space for one another and a simple kind act.

The chain

The chain is in the center to signify that when we do take time to create space, it creates a chain reaction of kindness. That kind act inspires others to do the same, and we create this “Chain of Kindness”

Copper metal is know as “the giver of positivity and goodness” which is why we chose it as the metal for our chain.

The heart

Speaks for itself, but the goal with this chain of kindness is to create more love, joy and happiness everywhere.  Symbolized with the calming color of teal.
